In religion people follow certain traditions and perform various rituals to gain the attention and favour of the sought after god or to appease the wrath of that god. However Christianity is not a religion it is a relationship. Our God is love (1 John 4:8) and love has no meaning outside of relationship. What’s more is that it is God who has initiated a love relationship with you and now awaits your response.
1 John 4: 19 – We love because He first loved us.
When Jesus was asked – What is the greatest commandment? – He replies in Matthew 22: 37 – You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind.
God the Father, Jesus His Son and the Holy Spirit all love you and each one has a different play a part in their love relationship with you as you will discover.
To build a strong healthy relationship with anyone requires spending time with that person and truly getting to know them. The same is true with God.
So in this section we will look at:
Spending Time with God – how do I spend time with a God I cannot see?
Getting to Know God – understanding the true nature and character of God and the different roles of Father God, Jesus and Holy Spirit.
Understanding Our Salvation – our salvation is an incredible love gift and it is important that we understand the transaction that took place at our conversion and how to grow in all that God has made available to us.
